In response to increasing consumer and collector demand for the original oil and mixed media artwork of renowned painter Peter O’Neill, a 2nd New Orleans art gallery featuring Peter’s work is set to celebrate its grand opening on Saturday May 18th 2013.

O’Neill Studios curator and spokesperson Noelle O’Neill states, “This gallery was founded as a result of the profound interest and collect-ability of Peter’s work.  Being a self-taught artist has given Peter the freedom to create in many different styles and mediums. A space as large as 319 Royal St has allowed Peter to publicly display his wide range of talent and creativity.”

The new O’Neill Studio will provide ample viewing space for crowds of tourists, local residents, and art collectors who frequent the current gallery. There will also be space dedicated for exhibiting the work of other artists who have been hand selected by Peter for the quality and range of their work. This provides these artists a chance to show in a nationally known artists’ gallery and have their work exposed to a growing list of international collectors.

Artist Peter O’Neill sprung from a troubled lifestyle and in two short decades has evolved from humble street painter to an internationally acclaimed master of oil on canvas. Although demand for Peter’s commissioned work is high, he is also well known for his philanthropic acts, including donations of thousands of reproductions to various charities and public venues.

Peter first gained the national spotlight with his original oil painting “Two Minutes of Silence”, depicting a grieving flag-draped New York firefighter taking a knee within the  devastation at Ground Zero.  Peter has leveraged his notoriety to raise thousands of dollars to help the New York City Fireman and Emergency Service Relief Fund. Lithographs of this poignant masterpiece were donated and are on display in over 14,000 fire houses and public buildings around the United States.

When asked his thoughts on the new gallery opening Peter replied, “This new gallery is the crowing achievement in my career as an artist. A way of giving other artists the opportunity of showing in a first class gallery. Which is an opportunity starting out I did not have. ”

17 years ago next month I began a journey on a greyhound bus out of New York port authority on 42nd and 8th Ave. my spirit and my will to live had been broken the previous year. Yet know I was determined not only to win back the respect of those close to me. But of myself. I had failed to make good choices in life and now here I sat after 36 years with the result. Zero. I had nothing.

Nothing except a god given talent which had yet to be developed, heading to saint Augustine where I knew no one.

17 years later, thru many trials and tribulations I am opening my fourth gallery. My son and I are as close as can be. Thru my experience I was able to help turn his life around. Both mom and dad have passed but my hard work payed off with their respect and love.
So please stop telling your self you can’t or listening to the naysayers. Anything is possible if your willing to put in the time effort. It’s a long road with many challenges. People will put walls in your way. Figure out how to go around them or break thru them if need be.
17 years. Sounds like an eternity yet if feels as if only yesterday when I got off the bus with 250.00 and a drive to build a life I could be proud of.

Follow your dreams. Make then a reality. If I can do it with a high school diploma anyone can. Yes anyone.

The space will be a premier space over 2000 square feet.

The new location will house not only the largest collection of O’Neill originals but fabulous art from some of the best artists in the country.
We are extremely proud of this expansion as this increase the number of galleries to four.
